SANDYCROFT ARE ENCHANTED BY TPA'S PANELS AND PEOPLE

Aluminium and plastic panels from TPA Portable Roadways help out at Alton Towers Resort.

Portable roadways supplied by temporary access solutions provider TPA are helping Sandycroft Construction help with a major expansion to Alton Towers Resort.

TPA's aluminium and plastic panels have been enabling plant including three-tonne dumpers, five-tonne diggers and an 18-tonne mobile crane move and lift more than 100 1-tonne wooden pods into position on a site next to the resort's Enchanted Village.

The minimalist four-person “Stargazing” pods are a major expansion to, and the most affordable accommodation, at the resort which already features hotels, tree houses and woodland lodges.

The 3m-wide heavy-duty aluminium Trax panels have been complemented in tighter areas, and for twin tracks for the crane, by 100% recyclable 2.4m-wide plastic Zappmats which at 35kg each can be manoeuvred by hand when required.

They were delivered to site in November from TPA's head office site in Worksop, Nottinghamshire, and the project is due for completion shortly.

Phil Pearson, site manager for Stoke on Trent-based Sandycroft, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, had not used TPA products before and was impressed not only with them but with the service provided.

“The project has been challenging due to the weather conditions and the TPA panels have helped enormously. We needed them for the ground conditions on what will be a village green and we found the plastic ones particularly to be more manageable and manoeuvrable and quicker to install.

“The TPA people who came out to install them, and who made return visits at short notice so we could get the pods installed and the panels lifted and redistributed for the next load, were very helpful. It comes down to the service that is provided and we have been very satisfied. It has been a pleasure to work with them.”
